On Rhodes there is plenty to see and do, or just relax by the pool or on a beach. Below are just a few things to see, we have left two Rhodes guides in the apartment for your use.
New town has all the shops you could hope for even a Marks and Spencers, along with some up market bars and restaurants. Old town maintains its medieval history with museums, ruins, the Knights of St John. Shops selling the normal tourist stuff but some selling very up market gifts. Good bars and restaurants, can be expensive so check the menu first, just wander round, get lost in the labyrinth of streets and you may just come across a restaurant or bar tucked away in a hidden courtyard. Wander round the harbour and see some very expensive yachts belonging to the rich and famous, and here at its entrance was said to be the site of the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the seven wonders of the world.
Famous for its sugar cube white houses set on the hillside below the Acropolis. Its streets are lined with shops, bars and taverna’s. Can get very busy best early morning.
Lots of bars and taverna’s
Taverna’s and bars can be found in the village centre. On the main road you can find crazy golf and go carting.
Not really butterflies but moths, but very beautiful moths. The moths arrive in their thousands in July and August.
Not far from Butterfly Valley, has Ostrich’s and other birds and mainly from Asia and Australia.
The park has around 11 water slides. A full day of fun.
The only golf course on the island. The 18 hole course (par72) is rated by pros as challenging but fair. Open all year round, equipment hire available. Tel +30 22410 51256 & 22410 51451
On the hill of Monte Smith, to the west of the new town. You will find the remains of temples of Athena, Apollo and Zeus and a restored theatre dating from 3rdcentury BC.
These were hot springs, housed in buildings of colonial style dating from the Italian occupation. The installations are not in operation today.
A totally different Rhodes with pine trees and lush vegetation, and running water. The stream is formed from the waters of the seven springs, a place of natural beauty. A good taverna too.
Please feel free to make use of the guide books, on leaving could you please leave them for the next guests use.
